The Grad Tickets will be ready for pick up starting next Monday, June 5th. Congratulations to our Dover Bay Robotics Team for a strong showing at the Skills Canada Nationals Competition in Winnipeg. Marina and Xiaoriu, representing Team BC finished 5-4 overall in round robin play and had two close tournament games against New Brunswick and Alberta, losing 8-6 and 19-17. Marina and Xiaoriu defeated Team Ontario in round robin play. Team Ontario later on won the Nationals against Sasketchewan and New Brunswick coming third.

Girls Group will run today at 12:40-1:50 p.m. in C106.
Eco Club will be holding a multimedia competition during the month of May. This year, the theme is “Nature Through Your Lens”.
The competition will have two categories, photography and art. All submissions should include your name, grade, and a short description on how the submission fits the theme. Students are able to submit either a single photo or an album of 3 to 5 photos for the photography category.
The winners of the competition will win either a drawing tablet for the art category, or a polaroid camera for the photography category. Send in submissions by May 31st for a chance to win. Submissions and questions can be sent to dbs.ecoclub@gmail.com

Setting up and Clean up is done by all players and volunteers. Valedictorian
Each year, members of the Dover Bay graduating class nominate and select a student to speak on their behalf at Graduation. The student Valedictorian serves as a representative of the graduating class by presenting a speech to family members, staff and fellow students. To be a Valedictorian is a tremendous honor. For specific criteria, see Google classroom or the grad newsletter that will be going out today.
The Valedictorian nomination process closes on May 23rd. Students need to be nominated by a fellow student and teaching staff member. Nominees will be asked to write and present a 2–3-minute speech as part of their nomination.

Dover Golf
Congratulations to the Dover Golf Team for their solid effort yesterday at North Islands in Parksville. The team posted its lowest tournament score of the season, but came up just 3 strokes short of qualifying for Islands. Low round honours went to Manny Lalh for his score of 73. Other team members included Ethan Watson, Evan Donaldson, Cole Van Ryssel, and Callum Walker. Overall, it was a successful season building up to their best effort of the year.
Cafeteria
The kitchen is closed for today but there will be pizza sales available in the atrium. Come buy some pizza and help support the Dover Bay Ultimate Team as they prepare to go to provincials.
Northern Games
Nuwilum guests from across the district who have come to Dover to compete and cheer on competitors in the Northern Games Challenge of the Champions. Each game played today is a testament to the resilience of our first peoples relatives of the far north. Good luck to all competitors!

Northern Games
Have you ever had to carry a caribou across frostbitten tundra so you could eat dinner? The Caribou Carry is just one of the games athletes from across the district will compete in tomorrow during the Challenge of the Champions, a celebration of Northern Games that build on skills of strength and endurance needed by our Indigenous relatives of the far North. Let’s welcome athletes and fans from across SD68 to our school and show them how kind, connected, and resilient we are! Remember to wear blue Dover Bay. Challengers: we are proud of you.
Cafeteria
Today’s soup is the chicken and white bean chili for $3.50, the short order is the chicken souvlaki on a warm pita with tzatziki for $5.00, with fries for $7.50. The entrée is the Korean Pork tenderloin bowl with fresh vegetables for $7.50.
The sandwich of the week is the meatball sub for $5.00. Add a soup, salad or fries to your sandwich for $2.50.
Tomorrow the kitchen will be closed for Northern Games but there will be pizza sales available in the atrium.
Reminders
Grade 12 students who are registered to attend VIU for September, VIU educational advisor, Leah Pond, will be here on Tuesday, May 23rd to help you with registering for your courses. Please sign up in the counselling area.
Service Hours: The deadline for submitting service hours for this school year is Wednesday, May 31st. Any service hours after that will need to be submitted next year. Please use the google form for submitting your hours and get them in by the 31st.

Valedictorian
Each year, members of the Dover Bay graduating class nominate and select a student to speak on their behalf at Graduation. The student Valedictorian serves as a representative of the graduating class by presenting a speech to family members, staff and fellow students. To be a Valedictorian is a tremendous honor. For specific criteria, see Google classroom or the grad newsletter that will be going out today.
The Valedictorian nomination process begins today, May 15th and closes on May 23rd. Students need to be nominated by a fellow student and teaching staff member. Nominees will be asked to write and present a 2–3-minute speech as part of their nomination.
Attention all Grade 11 & 12’s – looking for an interesting way to end your school year?
There will be a glow in the dark, Rainbow Masquerade happening on June 22nd for queer youth and their allies, at the Woodlands’ gym from 6 – 10 p.m.
This event will have a DJ, free glow paint, masks and photobooth available. Tickets will be sold at your office or online at eventbrite.ca for $5.00.

Intramural Hockey
Intramural Hockey is today in the gym for our 3rd week of the regular season:
In GYM A, we have Teacher Team vs. Nanaimo Raiders (Carson Prescesky refereeing and Java and Amy scorekeeping).
In GYM B, we have the Special Squad vs. Sweet 16’s (Lincoln Sinclair refereeing and Andrew Beck scorekeeping).
There are no games on Thursday this week. Please see your team Captains for all rules and gameplay information. Good luck to all teams and to all players, we are focused on a fun and sportsmanlike environment.

Northern Games
Dover Bay will be hosting the Northern Games Challenge of the Champions this Thursday. Athletes from SD68 high schools and their fans will come to Dover for a day of competition to celebrate the strength, resilience, and endurance of our Northernmost relatives. Each of the games require mental and physical strength needed for survival in the far North. Let’s give all of the competitors our support!
