Raising children during the teenage years is extremely hard work. And yet, it is one of the most important things you will ever do!

Parents are invited to come join us on Tuesday, February 13th in our Multi-Purpose Room for a conversation on “Surviving and Thriving during the Teenage Years”.

The session is from 6:30 – 7:30 pm. The evening is designed to provide parents the opportunity to come and learn about courses and the course selection process at Dover Bay, explore the latest research specific to the teenage years, learn about emerging issues affecting our youth, as well as discover resources to help you thrive throughout the teenage years.

The agenda includes:

  • Welcome
  • The Graduation Program, course offerings and course selection process for 2018-2019
  • The teenage brain
  • Current issues impacting our youth
  • Parent resources

I have included some of the resources that I will be sharing during the presentation. I encourage parents to watch the videos and read the articles prior to the session as there will not be enough time during next week’s session to cover all of the material.  This strategy is what we in education call a “Flipped Classroom” where much of the information is covered by students (in this case parents) ahead of time so that they can come to class reasonably informed and full of questions, excited to move the learning forward. I look forward to seeing you next week and engaging in a fantastic conversation around the teenage years.
