Groups & Clubs

 

Students Council meets today at lunch in E211.

Chess Club meets today at lunch in D102.

Dungeons, Dragons & More Club meets today after school in the MPR.

Homework Club meets today after school in D103.

The weight room is open today after school.

 

Athletics

The last tryout for Ultimate is today from 3:15-5:00 on the upper field. We still need more girls to form a second team. Make sure you fill out the tryout form to be considered for the roster. Follow @doverbayulti on Instagram for updates.

 

Badminton

Badminton try-outs for Grades 8-9 are happening on Friday (Mar. 10th) at 4 pm in the gym. It will be helpful if you sign up ahead of time on the Dover Athletics website – go to the Badminton page!

 

Track & Field

There will be a track and field meeting tomorrow, March 8th at lunch in Room E207. If you are hoping to be a part of our track and field team make sure you are there!

 

Senior Girls Volleyball

Any girls interested in playing Senior Girls Volleyball next fall are asked to attend an important meeting today at lunch in E105.  Please see Mr. Nelson if you have any questions.

 

MyEd

Please make sure you can log into MyEd and you know what classes you have this semester. If you need help with MyEd, please come to the office with a chromebook.

 

Are you a singer? Do you perform in a band? Want to have one of your songs put into a music video? The film class is now accepting song submissions for music videos. If you have something you’ve been creating and would like to have it presented in a video format, bring your audio file to Ms. McDonald in E106 before the end of next week. Successful submissions will be featured on our YouTube channel and other social media platforms

 

Cafeteria

Today we have the butternut squash and coconut curry soup for $3.50, the short order is the cajun chicken caesar salad wrap for $5.00 and $7.50 with fries. The entrée is the three cheese manicotti with side salad for $7.50.

The sandwich of the week is the meatball sub for $5.00.  Add a soup, salad or fries to your sandwich for $2.50.

Have you applied to Vancouver Island University or thinking about VIU for post-secondary training? Want to know how to set up classes, organize your schedule, or wondering about your program plans for VIU in September? We can help! VIU Educational Advisor, Leah Pond, and Recruitment Officer, Rolanda Murray, will be here at Dover on Tuesday, March 28th (9:20 – 3:00) to answer any questions you have. Please sign up in advance in the Counselling office.

 

The RCMP youth camp applications are almost due.  It is an exciting 5 day camp where students stay on site overnight and it is designed to simulate RCMP training.

This camp is for students who are interested in a career as a first responder, not just law enforcement.  The fire department, paramedics as well as dispatchers are scheduled to provides some insight into their careers during camp.  The camp provides participants with 4 school credits at the grade 12 level.  This year’s camp will take place July 3-7 2023.  Applications are due this Friday, March 10th.

There will be a Spring Break “Certificate Course” being offered for Cashier’s Training on March 15th at Ladysmith Secondary from 10-3 and on March 21st at Island Connect Ed from 10-3.  As well, there is Barista Training to be held on March 16th at Ladysmith Secondary from 10-3 and on March 22nd at Island Connect Ed from 10-3.

Attention Grade 12 Metis students – there is an information session today on post-secondary options hosted by the Mid Island Metis Nation. Come to iyus lelum at lunch to attend.

 

This Thursday, March 9th, academic advisors from VIU’s services for Aboriginal students department will be coming to talk about VIU programs and services. This event is open to all Indigenous students in Grades 11 and 12 and will be held in iyus lelum at lunch.
