Clubs
Eco Club will be holding a multimedia competition during the month of May. This year, the theme is “Nature Through Your Lens”.
The competition will have two categories, photography and art. All submissions should include your name, grade, and a short description on how the submission fits the theme. Students are able to submit either a single photo or an album of 3 to 5 photos for the photography category.
The winners of the competition will win either a drawing tablet for the art category, or a polaroid camera for the photography category. Send in submissions by May 31st for a chance to win. Submissions and questions can be sent to dbs.ecoclub@gmail.com
Jr. Performing Arts
The performing arts academy’s Jr. class will be performing the Alibis Wednesday, May 31st to Friday, June 2nd. Tickets are $10 each and they can be purchased at the office or at the door.
Athletics
Congratulations to all the athletes and volunteers for helping to run the SD68 Northern Games yesterday. The day was a beautiful display of sportsmanship, school spirit and feats of strength and athleticism. Dover Bay represented well and came First Overall!! #doverpride

A reminder that Intramural Hockey is back on Tuesday in the gym. It will be the last week of the regular season.

Each year, members of the Dover Bay graduating class nominate and select a student to speak on their behalf at Graduation. The student Valedictorian serves as a representative of the graduating class by presenting a speech to family members, staff and fellow students. To be a Valedictorian is a tremendous honor. For specific criteria, see Google classroom or the grad newsletter that will be going out today.
The Valedictorian nomination process closes on May 23rd. Students need to be nominated by a fellow student and teaching staff member. Nominees will be asked to write and present a 2–3-minute speech as part of their nomination.

Dover Golf
Congratulations to the Dover Golf Team for their solid effort yesterday at North Islands in Parksville. The team posted its lowest tournament score of the season, but came up just 3 strokes short of qualifying for Islands. Low round honours went to Manny Lalh for his score of 73. Other team members included Ethan Watson, Evan Donaldson, Cole Van Ryssel, and Callum Walker. Overall, it was a successful season building up to their best effort of the year.
Cafeteria
The kitchen is closed for today but there will be pizza sales available in the atrium. Come buy some pizza and help support the Dover Bay Ultimate Team as they prepare to go to provincials.
Northern Games
Nuwilum guests from across the district who have come to Dover to compete and cheer on competitors in the Northern Games Challenge of the Champions. Each game played today is a testament to the resilience of our first peoples relatives of the far north. Good luck to all competitors!

Have you ever had to carry a caribou across frostbitten tundra so you could eat dinner? The Caribou Carry is just one of the games athletes from across the district will compete in tomorrow during the Challenge of the Champions, a celebration of Northern Games that build on skills of strength and endurance needed by our Indigenous relatives of the far North. Let’s welcome athletes and fans from across SD68 to our school and show them how kind, connected, and resilient we are! Remember to wear blue Dover Bay. Challengers: we are proud of you.

Dover Bay will be hosting the Northern Games Challenge of the Champions this Thursday. Athletes from SD68 high schools and their fans will come to Dover for a day of competition to celebrate the strength, resilience, and endurance of our Northernmost relatives. Each of the games require mental and physical strength needed for survival in the far North. Let’s give all of the competitors our support!

Today is Red Dress Day. Did you know that Indigenous women and girls are 12 times more likely to be murdered or go missing than non-Indigenous? This is due to the legacy of colonialism. When you see a red dress, please remember that it represents someone’s mother, sister, or friend who is not here today.
Clubs
The Dover Impact Club is doing a money drive to raise funds for our sister school in Uganda. The last day to bring in money is today. They will use the funds to grow the size of their garden so they can provide more people in the community with fresh fruits and vegetables. They are also trying to expand their school so more people can get an education. Please consider donating, it doesn’t have to be just loonies. Any amount helps! The C Block class that raises the most money will receive a donut party!

The Model UN Club meets today at lunch in Room E109 (Mr. King’s new room).

Financing Club meets today at lunch in Room E102.
The Dover Impact Club is doing a money drive to raise funds for our sister school in Uganda. The last day to bring in money is Friday, May 5th. They will use the funds to grow the size of their garden so they can provide more people in the community with fresh fruits and vegetables. They are also trying to expand their school so more people can get an education. Please consider donating, it doesn’t have to be just loonies. Any amount helps! The C Block class that raises the most money will receive a donut party!
